Issues Important to Our District

These are just a few of the issues that affect our fellow citizens. 

 Constitutional Convention: At no time should we have a constitutional convention.  I do NOT trust our government's members enough to allow them to add amendments to our Constitution as that would also give them the ability to TAKE rights from us.  We have already seen the extra-legal measures our government has taken to chip away at our rights.

Partisanship:  Why are there no independents listed during congressional votes?  Independents are forced to caucus with the party they most identify in order to allow the parties to determine success before each vote.  This is how they pass insane legislation.  Once you have independents in the mix, both parties are forced to create sensible legislation because then the outcome is not so predictable.  My intent is to create a "caucus" of independents.  That should, in theory, force the major parties to be more responsible.

Personal rights:  Our Government has negated our agency and autonomy at every opportunity.  This is unacceptable.

Medical Care:  Our medical care system has been the laughing stock of the Western World for decades.  Somehow, our government has succeeded in making it WORSE.  I will endeavor to secure funds to maintain our county hospitals insuring that we ALL have access to care.

Fear Mongering:  Our Nation's issues have never been an "Us vs Them" proposition.  This is the main reason for our radicalization.  It must be stopped.

Equality Under the Law:  Legally, we have equality under the law.  In reality, this is plainly not true.  There is absolutely no reason why moneyed individuals should enjoy more rights than you or I.

Civil Forfeiture:  This is an evil idea that needs to die.  Not even the government should be able to take your hard earned money on the belief that you "might" be committing a crime.

Qualified Immunity:  This legal theory is not based on any written law.  It is a theory that absolves public servants from responsibility even when they knowingly and willingly cause others to be harmed.  A reasonable codification needs to be made into law in order to prevent future governmental abuse.
